To wakeup ~~ You might not realize it, but what you are advocating is socialism ... which has been tried and has failed time after time. I am NOT a landlord ... I own nothing but the clothing on my back and a couch, table, bed and ancient stereo (from the '70s). I don't even have an internet connection at home ... I am allowed to use my computer at work when my work is done. But if the Saint were my landlord and he told me he had to raise my rent, I would believe that it was necessary. I'm not saying there aren't greedy people around, but believe me ... EVEN THE POOR CAN BE WORSHIPERS OF MAMMON! (In other words, you don't have to have much to love it!) Jesus warned us over and over again that making harsh judgements against others (believers or not) was a dangerous thing to do. "By whatsoever measure you mete, it shall be meted to you again." Matt. 7:2. I'm not saying we don't have a right to look at a person's "fruit" and make a judgement call about their fruit ... however, I believe there is a difference between saying "This person's fruit tells me he's not right with God" and bluntly telling someone, "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" THAT is not your call ... you're putting yourself in the place of God when you pronounce judgement on someone and THAT, my friend, is BLASPHEMY! Beyond that, let me tell you I've watched the Saint's posts over time and he is one of the most loving, forgiving and open posters on here and your judgement of him simply emphasizes your ignorance (of him and of this site and perhaps even of the love of God and His willingness to take us "just as we are".) This is supposed to be a place where everyone is free to have their say (even YOU) but that doesn't mean you can pass judgement on other posters here just because they express a different viewpoint than yours. Lighten up, please.

and another to the SAINT, If you are being robbed by the government to where you are paying high mortages and ever increasing costs - you need to fight the government and congress - you are not to take it out on tenants. Tenants are not supposed to be robbed because you are having problems. If you cannot afford your building you need to sell it and give it to someone who will not rob their tenants.
Replying to the Saint: When I first read the part where you were okaying raising rent each year I knew right away you were a Landowner - If you think that it's okay to charge excessive rent for these small and NORMAL places and you think it's okay to raise rent each year --- YOU DO NOT KNOW OR FEAR GOD! GREED is one of the things destroying Americans lives and causing poverty and hell. GREED is sending you and others to Hell -- Read the whole bible (kings James original). Fear God because hell is no place you want to go to and you DON'T want to stand before him on judgement and you have raised people's rent to high and each year - God is a scary person and he can get very angry! And you must be an immigrant or born from them if you think that everybody has a right to come over here and live even if they did not build or cause prosperity to come to this country - they just want our prosperity and what we built. We are overcrowed that's why the freeways are overcrowed. America was the number one country because we were NOT LIKE other countries - we had space and we are the ones to enjoy it. My enjoyment, space, and freedom is not supposed to be infringed upon because people want to come over here and get "the better life" and us Americans are no longer our better life. Immigrants whether legal or illegal jacked up their own countries - they made their bed let them lie in it. And telling me to move because I don't want to pay that high rent is crap because everywhere people are raising rent too much and charging to much and since foreign people are rushing over here to live - us American's are running out of choices of places to live. And do not tell me to buy a House because they are way overpriced due to lies and GREED. God expects us to be intelligent and know the right way from the wrong - and being kind does not mean being a fool and letting everybody come here and jack our country and way of life up.
Welcome to the board. I agree generally with the spirit of what you are saying, but disagree with some of the finer points. 1. You disagree with "allowing everybody from other countries to get citizenship over here to where we are being overcrowded." First, we don't allow EVERYBODY. Second, I don't have a problem with the level of legal immigration we have. I wouldn't even mind if we increased it. What I have a big problem with is ILLEGAL immigration where thieves break in and nobody does anything to stop them. Secondly, we are not even close to being overpopulated. We have vast stretches of open, undeveloped land and entire states that people are leaving. Compared to much of the rest of the world, we have an extremely low number of people per square mile.
2. If you think "property owners are raising rent each year and stealing renters money charging to much to get rich!" Buy a house. Landlords only charge what the market can bear and if people start buying, rent prices will go down. A renter is free to move any time they wish. If you have a lease and can't move, your rent is at a fixed rate during the term of the lease. Being a landlord myself, I can tell you that it is no "get rich quick" scheme. Many of my tenants have trashed my places to a degree that I lost money during their tenancy.
In response to the corrupt U.S. government, tax system, and foreign welfare, I say "Vote for Ron Paul!" He's the only candidate who agrees with you and I about these issues.
It's time for christians to start preaching against all the evil and I mean specifically in America. All I hear is what is happening with abortion and gays but what about how our government is deliberately destroying America and the American people by allowing everybody from other countries to get citizenship over here to where we are being overcrowded and having all these problems to soon look like china (I am not against some immigration), and how they are stealing our money and telling us we are in a recession and they need for us to pay more taxes, etc but they are giving multi-billions of our money to other countries building them up and making them richer - this is sin. What about all the greed in America where property owners are raising rent each year and stealing renters money charging to much to get rich! Preach against greed, lies, and the destruction of America. We are not called to take care of the rest of the world - our money belongs to us. Americans believed correctly and did correctly and the other countries believe in false gods and dirty habits, etc. that's why America was so blessed and the thirdworld and others were either poor or not doing that well. God said that if a man does not provide for his OWN household he is worse than an infidel - Well if a country does not give to his OWN citizens and let them enjoy what they built and their money they are worse than an infidel(a non-believer in god), this means the offender's torment will be worse than an infidels. Preach the whole truth!
