Now Debbie calm down, lol I kinda agree with her.  I don't listen to Olsteen.  Don't care too, but i would have to say that he is a voice out there, and I hope that someone will become hungry for more of God through his message.  Some people have to start somewhere.  I agree alot with woodworker on this, that you need a Local pastor.  The bible says

Pro 11:14  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Thats why I believe it is important to have a pastor.  Some people think they are too good or that they don't need a pastor.  Well their life will be a living wreak of confusion.  If you like Olsteen or however you spell his name FINE.  Just make sure you have some Godly counsel close by.

My answer is in the form of a question. If the will of God is that no one should perish and the promise of his Word has the power to change a persons eternal destination, what can man offer in book form to compare?

Lucifer mixed Gods words with his deception to Eve, then to Yeshua, what makes these men any different? What drives me crazy is man will believe Lucifer did it, but "my pastor" NO WAY. Let God be true and every man a liar. Especially the ones who say, "trust me."

Believers who are too lazy to study God's Word for its truth get their reward. Does that sound too hard or callous? Yeshua said he came for judgment, to place at odds father and son, brother and brother...Believers need to wake up and allow the Holy Spirit to teach them Gods truth and stop depending on their pastor to do it for them.

There is a man from Florida who claims to be Jesus and he preaches that there is no sin no hell no condemnation( but he will quote scripture when it comes to tithes), there was a man name Jim Jones who told the people the bible has kept the black people down for years and if you watch the video's of Jim Jones it is stated " there were no bibles at Jonestown that could be why the people were so easily deceived". Now Joel starts off his sermonette's "this is my bible" but if you don't use it what is the use? Then you are going off his (Joel's) understanding and the bible says don't lean unto your own understanding. He plainly said" I don't use a whole lot of the bible and I don't feel bad about it because we have already reached the saved folks we are just trying to reach the mainstream". Your best life know book is very carnal and this life is just a passing through unto the real life we all seek. Joel use the bible or step down and become the next Dr. Joel instead of a pastor we have enough craziness in our pulpits now.

Greetings DCABA,
Welcome and God Bless.  By the way,  could I ask what DCABA stands for ?
As for Joel Osteen, I do believe God can use him for something, but that something is for a motivational speaker not a Pastor.  A Pastor is obligated for many things INCLUDING preaching the Gospel, the Whole Gospel and nothing short of that.  The Pastor is also responsible for his flock.  According to Mr. Osteens own words, he does not have time for individual persons in his congregation.  He performs no marriages, no funerals, no counseling, no nothing except to "preach" and run the business.  That my dear friend is not the role of a Pastor.  Joel has some great messages as  "The Saint" has witnessed to, but also as "Wordworker" has stated, if the train is traveling towards a cliff and there is not doubt that everyone on that train is about to die and face their judgement day, I know that everyone of them would need to know the GOSPEL message of SALVATION or they will NOT make the Heavenly gates.
Joel just falls short of preaching the Gospel message which is FOREMOST IMPORTANT to EVERYONE who is to know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I have written letters, emails and have called Joel Osteen's Ministry and Church and to no avail.  He refuses to discuss anything with anyone except television interview and then he now makes sure that the questions are guarded since he failed so disparagingly on the Larry King Live Interview.
You can feel good, think life is going great, have all the money you need, have smile on your face everyday, do good towards others and all the wonderful things in life, but if you do not have the Assurance or Salvation, you will have nothing.  Nothing that is except an eternity of torment.
This dear friend is why I do what I do.  I have been chosen by God along with many others, to be a Watchman on the Wall.  I do not and want not to have the blood (soul) of anyone on my balance sheet when I meet the Lord come judgement day.
Ezekiel 33:6
But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

Mr Osteen is a great Pastor and a great Life teacher, and if anybody dislike him, just change your channel and move on, he is not asking anyone to beleive or not to beleive, whatever you do with your life is up to you, everyone owns their own life and everyone can do what they want with it, but always remember that there is always a consecuence to every sin, and no matter what you do it will comeback to you.As to the comments you made, you yourself said it right, Joel is a good "life teacher" and that is what he should stick with, UNLESS God calls him to do something else.  Remember, it was Joel himself who admitted that he had no interest in becoming a preacher but was forced into it when his father passed away.
As for the comment about "everyone owns their own life". I do not agree.  My life is owned free and clear by God Himself.  His Son Jesus Christ gave His life and that is the debt He paid.  If my life was my own, I could just decide that I was going to Heaven regardless of what I believe but I would be wrong in that assumption.  You are right in regards to you can do what you want to with your life, but only here on earth.  You life truely begins when you die.  That is the message Joel does not teach.
Again, Thank you so much for coming and discussioning this with all of us.  We welcome you thoughts an ideas.  We may not agree with them all but it gives us topics to learn from though dialog.
God Bless.

I saw one Osteen message, one time. Let me tell you, it was exactly what I needed to hear at the time and it encouraged me greatly. I believe God used Osteen's message to speak to me. There was nothing in it that was unbiblical or anti-Christian. However, the message of encouragement is THE ONLY message he has. I have seen tv interviews with him in which he refuses to state that Jesus is the only wat to Heaven or that unbelievers will end up in Hell. He never confronts sin or preaches the Gospel and this is what is dangerous for the people in his church and those who watch him on tv. This man should never have been allowed behind a pulpit. As for my seeming contradiction, (I don't believe he should be preaching, and yet God spoke to me through him) just remember, God spoke to Balaam through his donkey!

Dear DBACA and others who feel the same~
I can tell you a lot of good things that this webmaster has done ... but I would embarrass him because he is a modest man.
I know exactly why he "criticizes" Joel Osteen.
It's because Osteen always "encourages" his listeners and "makes them feel better". Jesus said he came to bring a sword, not peace. It's great to feel good but, poster, it's even greater to know that you have a pastor who will warn you when you are straying from righteousness into dangerous waters (sin).
It's good to be encouraged ... but it's better to be informed about false teachings, bad doctrine and sin that you might be attracted to or involved in.
As one wise person once said, "Jesus came to comfort the troubled and to trouble the comfortable." That is a notion that Osteen has never grasped. Unlike the webmaster here, Osteen seems to believe that there are no bad people, doctrines, sin or evil in this world that people need to be warned about.
Put it another way ... if I were on a train hurtling toward a gorge where the bridge had collapsed, I might be unhappy to hear about it but I would definitely THANK whoever told me to stop! We are all on a train hurtling toward a gorge called eternity ... we all need to know that our Bridge (Jesus) is present in the gorge and we are safe ... Osteen never warns anyone about their Bridge being "out of order" ... he's too worried about losing their "ticket money!"

I am only going to answer this way. Go get a book call "The Secret", read it, and put it to practice, and I am telling you this, because what says in that book is very important for you and everyone to know. I am not telling you this, because someone told me, I am telling you this, because I am a Christian from time I was a child, but I have put all that, that book says, which is almost what Joel Osteen says to his people, to practice and it works, even before I knew about this book. I had put it to the practice, even going against my own will, and it works. It works even if you beleive on it or not, so for your own benefit and all those that you know, go get the book and stop criticizing others, the more you do it, the more they will be on your face. I'am sorry if I have limited words when it comes to religion, all my teaching had being in Spanish, but no matter what you all say, Mr Osteen is a great Pastor and a great Life teacher, and if anybody dislike him, just change your channel and move on, he is not asking anyone to beleive or not to beleive, whatever you do with your life is up to you, everyone owns their own life and everyone can do what they want with it, but always remember that there is always a consecuence to every sin, and no matter what you do it will comeback to you.

I live in Naples, FL and find very distasteful that you are always criticizing someone like Joel Osteen. He is a good Christian, and for the records, I don't know him personally, but I have been watching his programs for years in my tv every weekend. He is a Pastor that it will encourage you whenever you are down, it will bring your hopes up whenever you feel that everything is gone, it will give you courage whenever you feel down and discourage. It's very easy whenever you are a looser and you don't know anything to help others, to try to get new people to come to your sites, because that's the only way that you can even be noticed by other. It's very sad to see how some loosers go thru life criticizing others instead of doing something good for theirselfs and others. What have they done in life more than getting attention by doing this type of things???
Do something to better yourself, stop looking at everyone else and do something to make your life better!
