At least as long as I vote for people who claim to be pro-life MY CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR.
I cannot force anyone to do anything ... but at least I haven't voted in a way that violates everything I stand for.
I will continute to vote pro-life even if no one ever does anything because then at least I can say, "I tried to save babies!"
And teaching a lesson to Republicans by voting in Democrats is just plain reckless. We had 40 years of Democrat rule and look at the mess we ended up in.

thanks Saint. You can see the truth and the position that america is in. You cant legislate morality and the republican party has used anad abused the conservative base in the country and no one has made them pay yet. they neglect the conservative christian base and need an awakening.

Bush is Pro-Life, but has he raised a finger to stop abortion? No. And niether will any other politician. The abortion issue is sinply a way to secure votes on either side of the issue. It took me a long time to realise this fact. In fact, it wasn't until we had a Republican congress and a Republican president for six straight years with no action taken before I believed it was true. Abortion laws will not change until a good 80% of American's minds are changed. By the way, Joyce, I am Pro-Life and so is Ron Paul.

One of the big problems with looking at the current indebtedness as a way to judge a president's fiscal responsibility is how to consider what the current president incurred and what he inherited from his predecessors.
A common tactic when a president is elected from "the other side" is for the outgoing president to ram through a pile of debt-making bills. Then, they can scream for four years, "They have the highest debt ..... blah blah blah."
I am far from wealthy ... in fact, hubby and I are entitled to a minimal amount of food stamps because our income is so low ... but I always vote conservative ... not because of fiscal issues.
I vote conservative because I don't believe that killing babies is EVER ... EVER appropriate and that is what abortion does.
So who will I vote for? Someone who DOESN'T BELIEVE IN KILLING BABIES OR ALLOWING BABIES TO BE KILLED. Period.

I appreciate the replies guys! How can the bush presidencies and reagan era be considered fiscal conservatives when they have the highest debts in our history under they're administrations! I am really struggling with this one and I know 80 percent of christian vote republican but you have to wonder about conservatism when for 6 years bush had the conservative supreme court congress and senate and still roe vs. wade is legal and out debt is killing our children! I wonder is there a real conservative in the field!

Buddy,
I'm not sure where this website states, "don't vote your pocketbook," but I would say that voting Republican (especially Ron Paul) IS voting your pocketbook. They are generally for cutting taxes, while Democrats want to tax us into poverty. High taxes and government programs may make it seem like the Dems are for the working man, but actually government handouts only work to keep people poor, not help them out of poverty. I should also point out that voting Democrat and voting for government handouts is not voting YOUR pocketbook, it's voting SOMEONE ELSE'S pocketbook.  When you vote to raise your neighbor's taxes, you are treading in the realm of covetousness.  America has prospered more than other nations largely because we have had more economc freedom than anyone else. A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for your pocketbook and for freedom in general. He is the only candidate that is completely "socialism free".

Typically I vote conservative as I am conservative myself. When I purchase a car I purchase with the knowledge I'll have it until it is no longer useful. Therefore I try to choose a make I like, color, various maintenance factors, etc. When I choose between those running for office even though it normally works to be a Republican, there have been times in my state elections when I have voted for the Democrat. I voted for President Bush both times and although there are some things I wish he had done differently I am pretty pleased with his Presidency over all given the circuimstances he has faced.

I have no clear candidate at this point. I like Romney for his business sense and I do believe this country will have to make some tough choices from a fiscal stand point in the near future. He may be the one to have to make those decisions. He says he will strengthen our borders which has to be done. I like his morals, what I know of them. Although I don't agree with Mormanism, it does hold to good moral values, outside of Utah that is.

Mayor G. would be tough on the illegal ims and probably do a good job with the fiscal side, but his morals are questionable to me.

I like Fred T's easy going style and his stances are similar to Romney's. I can't see him rushing into anything hastily.

Mike H while I like his unafraidness(if that is a word) to state his faith, which this country could use, I have to spend some time looking at his actual views on issues.

I like, surprisingly to me, many of the things R Paul says, but I ask myself, would I want this guy in "this" office under a crisis? I have to answer no.

Rom, Fred and Mike are the three I like and no matter which one gets the nod on the Republican side I'd kinda like to see the VP slot go to Joseph L as his character to me is as honest as you can get.

On the Dem side out of what they are presenting...Obama comes accross as real while the other two, Hil and Ed, want power and popularity.

Great site i am glad to have stumbled on! my topic is as follows ; I have read from dr. wise and several other preachers evangelists etc; DON'T VOTE YOURE POCKETBOOK! meaning vote republican on conservative issues and deal with the fact you will not agree with them on economics. I dont want an argument, but I seriously want opinions on this. It seems to me that when they say dont vote your pocketbook they know that the republicans are catering to the church on issues but will turn on the working man. please let me know if this is what DONT VOTE YOURE POCKETBOOK means to you. Thanks
