Sometimes it's good to look back over your life and realize how much God has done for you THROUGHOUT your life.
Hubby and I were coming home from celebrating our 41st anniversary and started talking about that.
We talked about lost jobs and lost homes and lost family members ... and we talked about God's provision in everything.
We remembered the time we had four pork steaks and three potatoes to feed us, our teen-aged foster daughter and two children (who would split a pork steak because they couldn't eat a whole one.)  Then teenagers we had been ministering to started coming ... "Dad's locked us out of the house and passed out on the couch and we can't even get something to eat," Charlie and Floyd told us.  "My car broke down and my folks aren't home and I need a place to wait and I'm hungry," Janice said.  "Mom's mad at me and told me I had to pay for the figurine I broke by not getting any dinner for the next three days," Susan explained.  To each, without thought, I said, "Well, of course!  You can't go hungry! Come on in, I'm fixing dinner now."
Without thought I fried the four pork steaks.  Without thought I peeled and fried the three potatoes.  Without thought I placeed NINE PLATES around our large dining table.  And without thought I passed the platter and the bowl of potatoes.  It was only AFTER the platter came back to me that I realized what had happened.  The question on my mind bubbled out my mouth without thought, "Does everyone have a pork steak?"
Yes.  Both hubby and I and ... EVERY ONE OF THESE TEENS had their OWN porksteak and there was one left over to split for my two children.
Just one of many incidents that make me sing with all my heart that old hymn of the church, "No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you!  Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you!  God will take care of you, through every day, o're all the way.  He will take care of you! God will take care of you!"  aww
