Shepherd's Chapel is definitely off base.
I watched it just once and heard things I definitely knew were far from orthodox Christianity (although that's been a long time ago and I can no longer be specific).

I found this site searching for false teachers. I like to watch pastors on TV but realize I need to be careful. I recognize many on the list that I won't watch but many I've not heard of.
Should David Jeremiah be added to this list? http://www.davidjeremiah.org/site/default.aspx
One I've added to my own list is Arnold Murray.

A common thread I've noticed about false prophets and teachers is they usually portray themselves as someone special claiming to have "extra" revelations from God or "new"teachings only they seem to know. They focus more on prosperity, healing, self-empowerment, and dealing with emotions and virtually never talk about the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ for sins. Most heresy arisis from people accepting certain biblical truths at the exclusion of other biblical truths.

1 John 4:3 seems to be the difinitive test as to whether or not an individual is of God or not of God. When one considers that within the Christian church throughout the ages we have had diversity of opinion on many topics, ie; pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib, the trinity doctrine, is hell etenal or temporary, do the gifts still function today, tongues, KJV only and so on and so on we need to come back simply to the 1 John 4:3 test. Some such as William Branam and so on, as much as we my disagree with what could only be termed as "flights of fancy" regarding visits from angels and ordianing them as prophets or not, must be judged in the same light and with the same test as all of us: "DID JESUS CHRIST COME IN THE FLESH"  and do we testify to that fact? This of course may be simplifying things a bit much, but that's my 10 cents worth for now.

Chris, NZ.

william marrion Branham is not a false prophet but he tougth the truth to the believers . you can call him wat you want but the angle was God sent. Now we find that GOD VISTED ABRAHAM WITH TWO MORE ANGLES. AND ANGLES ARE of GOD. DONT FIGHT THE WORD IS MY ADIVSE TO YOU . YOU SAY THAT HIS FALSE BUT THE WORD SAYS HIS NOT , FOR HE WAS CHOOSEN OF GOD IN THIS DAY AND IS ABLESSING TO ALL WHO WILL BELIEVE GOD IN TRUTH. HE TOUGHT THE SPIRITUAL FOOD IN DUE SEASON. THE BAPTISIM HE TOUGHT FOR ITS A PROMISE TO THOSE WHO WILL BELIEVE. ACTS 2:38-39

When you name names, you sure do name a few....

Thank you for taking a stand.

There are not many left in this world that will hold to sound biblical doctrine.

Thank you!

Where Did Contemplative/Centering Prayer Originate?
seeds of what would become known as contemplation were sown early in the Christian era. The first appearance of something approximating contemplative prayer arises in the 4th century writings of the monk St. John Cassian, who wrote of a practice he learned from the Desert Fathers (specifically from Isaac
One day, about 1700 years ago, two young Christian monks living in the Egyptian desert visited an abba, an elder. They asked him what prayer really means. Abba Isaac then gave them one of the clearest and most powerful explanations of prayer in the whole Christian tradition. He said there are many forms of prayer but that all of them point to the same source and goal: the Prayer of Fire. He meant the living prayer of Jesus present in the human heart through the Holy Spirit.

The prayer of fire,
Abba Isaac explained, consumes self-consciousness. It is the goal of all spiritual practice: union with ultimate reality, loving union with God, divinization
. The question is how can we find this mystery of love in our own centre; how do we pray at depth; how do we enter the transformative experience of union? It is the question many people today are asking and the question is the spiritual hunger of our age.

Meditation is pure prayer. Pure of thought, images and words. We leave all these behind to enter purity of heart. Pure of egocentricity because we are not asking for anything. We take the searchlight of consciousness off ourselves. We do this simple - but not easy - work by taking a single word, a prayer word. We repeat the word continuously. In Latin
Cassian called it a formula, Main a mantra.
(Online source)

This is where the antibiblical practice of Contemplative/Centering Prayer originated; it was not practiced or taught by Jesus Christ nor His Apostles, and it has no place in the life of the Christian.
