Thank you very much for your input.  I remember a pastor of mine years ago said that God tests to see you succeed and satan tempts to see you fail. Just as a test pilot tests a plane to see how well it functions not necessarily see where it fails.  Satan wants to see us crash and burn.   You mentioned a very obvious thing to do and that is to pray and ask for discenment when facing trial or possible temptation.  Why is it that at times I fail to see the obvious?  Duh!!!  The article you suggested is excellent!!!  Wonderful reminders and very encouraging.
I've been through some very serious issues the past 2 1/2 years concerning my two children.  God has been showing me where I've harbored sinful attitudes and pride during this period. All the while I'm asking God to change "them" He's been working hard at changing me.  He IS faithful to His Word and I am thankful for that.
  Thank you!

Good question and thanks for posting it.  First one must know the following truth.  "Satan tempts us to bring out the worst in us; God tests us to bring out the best in us."  If you first understand this statement, then you can guage what is happening against it.  Sometimes we mistake what bringing out the worst means.  Satan has a way of bringing out in us something that we may interpet as good when if we really look at  it we will see that it is only glorifying us and not God.  If it is not Glorifying God then it is wrong.  Contrary to what the current day world may say and think.
I always pray for guidance and discernment whenever I have any question as to whether I am being tested or tempted.  Prayer is the first and foremost action that should be taken.  I also take time to study out the testing/tempting.  I ask myself how did this come about?  What is the end result going to be?  Does the testing/temptation glorify God/Jesus/Holy Spirit or will the result be something that will only glorify man/the-world/or someone else?  These things are important for me to know.  I also ASK the Lord flat out to show me what is going on. I of course do this in a humble subservient way.  So many times we just tell the Lord we have a problem and stop there..... Ask and it shall be given unto you..said the Lord.

A pretty good article to read can be found here:

Hope this helps clarify any question you may have had.

smilesmilesmileWe all have experienced God's testing and Satan's tempting....how does one discern when one is being tested or being tempted?  I am just curious as to how everyone perceives and deals with this.
