When we remember that every image we allow our eyes to behold is indelibly etched into our memory, we need to heed again the words of psalm 101:3 - "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes..." It's not just T.V. of course, erotic and immoral images are almost everywhere one looks now days, but yes television MUST be a major influence on the lack of purity and power in the church today.

I believe the need for the hour is a return to the straight testimony of Christ to be borne out in our lives. The line of demarcation beyween Christians and worldlings today is almost indistinguishable!!! THE ROT MUST BE ARRESTED!!! By us, by you and me, where and when we find ourselves right now.

Christian friends, let's not behold wickedness before our eyes any longer.

"Sin is a monster of such awefil mein that to be hated needs to be seen.
But seen too often, familiar with face,
We first pity, then endure, then embrace."

A. Pope.

A timely reminder to us all....

Chris - N.Z.

I want to hear a sermon on tv on gluttony. Tired of hearing ppl beat up on Todd Bently. Why don't they rebuke the comfy christians?

Yes and let's not forget the comfy social click clubs  at church that run to church everytime the door swings open.Church fellowship is good, but it cannot replace fellowship with the Lord or time needed for the family. You see not just tv and eating can become an idol, socializing in church can, music can, pleaseing the Pastor can, or the music minister who requires to much of your time.

As far as Todd Bentley and TBN: I HOPE YOU WILL COME TO SEE THE LIGHT.

So most christian tv is not so great neither I support you on the idea people watch too much tv but know that TBN,God TV,Daystar also supports some unbiblical teachings. Likewise you should pray if this is an area obviously your needing to deal with.

As far as Todd Bentley you need to look at the article on T.D.jakes I wrote about exposing false doctorine:

Why should 'God Fearing' Christians name names when dealing with those in public minstries

We are  to rightly divide the word and get the word of truth out  so other sheep will not be decieved; You might be tired of hearing about TB just turn your tv off. Their are others that need to know there is deception lurking about.

Have a Blessed Day!

We aren't "beat[ing] up" on Todd Bentley ... we are warning people who may not realize that his teachings are far from scriptural.  (As has been proven by recent developments in the Bentley/Lakeland saga.)

That is Bob W's calling and it's my pleasure to help.

As for "rebuke[ing] the comfy christians," believe me that has been done on here as well but it isn't the main reason for this board's existence.  Warning of false teachers is.

As for "gluttony" how about a sermon on "offending these little ones"? OR "All LIARS will have their part in the lake of fire ..."? (Ever fail to declare a "Pentecostal Handshake" of ten dollars?  Borrow a pen and never return it ... even after you realized what you had done?)

Enough.  We all have our weaknesses ... if we didn't we'd be taken up in a chariot of fire like a certain prophet was! Or else we would "walk with God and [be] not" as Enoch.

I'm not excusing sin ... I'm saying we all have things we need to work on and some of us have heavier burdens to carry than others.  Not our place to judge but our place to pray for and support our compatriots until and unless they cease struggling and "give in" to their baser natures.

I've been without a television in my home for about four years (excluding videos and CDs that I can easily control).
I find that my home is more peaceful, I have more time for things that matter and everyone seems to get along better.
When people decry the present-day casual attitude toward violent behavior or even taking a life, I often think the whole attitude shift started when televisions became an overwhelming part of the American lifestyle.  I believe that television does a lot to deaden the spirit toward these things.
Do you agree?  Do you have a tv?  Have you been concerned about its influence on your family?  What thoughts do you have about television?
